Summer of 18-#63 - Leaving Levi Jackson State Park, Melton Hill Dam, Tennessee & Heading to Chattanooga

Sunday, September 16th, 2018
After our short, but interesting stay at Levi Jackson State Park, we headed out to our next stop.  First, as Bryan hooked the car up, I took some pictures of the putting course here.  It really is a lovely campground in a great location.

The scenery going through both Kentucky and Tennessee has been great, so the moving days haven't been quite so boring!!!

We'll be going to Chattanooga next,  after a short stay at Melton Hill Dam.

Monday, September 17th, 2018
We had intermittent showers all day today and decided to stay at home and just relax and enjoy our surroundings.  Tomorrow we will be moving on again and it is good to sometimes just take a breather!!!

We caught up with our stickers by adding the Kentucky one.  We already had Tennessee.

We have added 6 States this trip, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio & Kentucky.  We won't be going through any more new States this year.

Time to hit the road again and Bryan chose this scenic spot to hook up the car.

What another beautiful location and we saw more great views on our way to Holiday Travel Park, Chattanooga, Tennessee.

We are planning on visiting Rock City during our stay in Chattanooga.

We arrived at the park and got settled in for 3 nights.  We have a lot we want to see here, so the next few days will be busy.  That blog will be another day. Stay tuned!!!!

Summer of 18-#62 - Cumberland Falls, Kentucky

Saturday, September 15th, 2018 - Part 2 of 2

After leaving McHargue's Mill, we drove through the Daniel Boone National Forest, to Cumberland Falls State Resort Park in Corbin, Kentucky.   

It was another beautiful place. This was our first view.

There was even a tornado shelter out here in the middle of nowhere, which was a very thoughtful safety addition.

We missed the "Moonbow" by one day, but we did see a rainbow at the falls.  Watch out for the pictures of that further along.  

I think you could pan for "gold" here, but it wasn't open. I could be wrong and this is just for show though.

All that glitters is not gold, but wait a minute, what's that I see, a rainbow.  We've been very lucky with rainbows at waterfalls this summer.  Remember the wonderful ones we saw at Niagara Falls and now this one, at what is known as "Niagara of the South".

This gentleman was playing some wonderful flute music.  I can't remember the well known tunes, he was playing, but they fit the surroundings well, and it was very enchanting.

We walked along the pathway that had been made in the rocks.

I left Bryan talking to a couple, while I walked a little further along the river.

There is a plaque to commemorate the family that saved the park from development by donating the land to the State.

I collected Bryan from the seat and we walked back by the flutist, had a quick chat with him and gave him a donation for his wonderful music, which added to the enchantment of this park.

On the way back to the car, I walked out onto the flat rocks above the waterfall.

On the way home I got a picture of a Kentucky horse.  It was blindfolded, which I found out was a fly mask, a mesh cover that keeps flies and bugs away from the horses face.

The country roads and barns. Kentucky has some lovely countryside and is different to what I expected.  I have always thought of Kentucky as being more plains and flat land, but we have experienced the opposite of that in the parts we have seen.

What an awesome day we had.  I loved both the mill and the waterfall.  Tomorrow we move on, and into Tennessee.  Maybe one day we'll come back to the campground here and spend a little longer.  I'm sure there's more to see.
