My flight wasn't until later in the day, so I spent the morning getting ready and packing last minute things. Bryan drove me to the airport and we said our "au revoirs". It was going to be 8 weeks before I saw him again. Due to our military days, we are used to being apart, and we would both be busy visiting family. It's still a strange feeling being apart now though, especially since we retired and live in such close proximity 24 hours a day in Lily.
I got to the gate in plenty of time and the plane arrived shortly after.
I boarded and the flight took off on time. Yay!!!

As the UK is 5 hours ahead of Florida time, we would be landing at Gatwick Airport at approx. 9am UK time, which would be 4am USA time. I needed to try and get some sleep on the plane. I had a window seat, which is my preference, as I like to look out, and also I can lean my head against the window if I want to.
Unfortunately, I didn't get much sleep. The woman in the seat next to me was extremely restless and she couldn't keep her arms or legs within the confines of her seat. I was kicked more than once while she was sleeping, ugh!!!!
We landed on time, but the gate wasn't ready that we were supposed to taxi in to. The pilot was extremely apologetic and I don't think he could believe that we couldn't get into the gate. We sat next to it, there were steps and containers blocking it, and no sign of anyone coming to move them. He told us there were no other gates available, and we would have to wait until they found someone with the keys required to access this gate, and move the equipment. Eventually, an hour later, he told us they had found us another gate. Yeah!!! We had a long walk once we got off the plane to customs, it seemed to take forever.
Fortunately, Ian was patient and was waiting for me.
Our journey wasn't over yet though, we had a 3 hour drive to Wales. Guess what, the traffic was slow moving and at times, stopped. We even diverted off the motorway for a short while to avoid the traffic jams. It ended up taking us over 5 hours. Poor Ian, I felt so bad for him, as he had got up early and driven to get me, and now it was an even longer drive to get back home. I kept him awake by talking to him constantly. Ha!!Ha!! I think I gave him a headache.
On the bridge going into Wales.
At last we eventually arrived at his house in Wales, exhausted but safe. I was so happy to get there and see everyone.

I slept well but still felt a bit sluggish when I woke up. Ian & Kris went out, and I looked after Kai, or did he look after me?? He told me he thought he would be bored, but we played a few games and he soon perked up, and told me he was having fun. It was good to be with him. I went to bed not long after Kris & Ian returned as I was feeling tired.
Bryan arrived at Pelican Roost RV park in Mayport, one of our favorites, to start preparing Lily for storage and his road trip in Tilly(car) to his moms, brothers and Brenda & John's.

The next 3 weeks were a blur. I became quite ill and couldn't eat or really function. I spent most of my time in bed. You know it's bad when I barely went on my laptop.
Meanwhile in the USA, Bryan was going through the exact same thing. Somehow he managed to drive the motorhome back to Jacksonville from Orlando, get it ready for storage and get it into storage. He already had a regular appointment for bloodwork scheduled, and the results showed that he had a virus.
There was nothing to do but drink fluids, eat soup, crackers, jello and anything you could stomach. Poor Kris & Ian tried to get me to eat, but it was pretty much impossible for me. I would have one or two bites and that was it. I know they were worried and frustrated, but I couldn't help it. I made jello and lived on that, fruit and water. I did manage to make a cup of tea every morning, and have a rich tea biscuit with it but it was all I could do to stand and make it. I was a mess. I don't remember ever feeling so bad. Bryan was a day or two ahead of me in the process so when he said he was starting to feel a bit better it helped, but then I seemed to take longer than him to recover.
I missed out on Kris' hen night and the boys were off for a week and we were going to go out for days and I couldn't join them in that. It was such a shame. I didn't dare to hug anyone in case it was contagious.
After 10 days I did go and see a doctor who sent me for bloodwork and a chest X-ray. It confirmed the virus. He said just continue what I was doing, and it would run it's course, it could take 3 weeks. He was right!!! We came to the realization that it was probably an airborne viral infection and we think we caught it at Universal Studios, or the airport in Orlando. I think Universal, as we were there longer and for more than one day. The great thing is it wasn't infectious, and no-one else caught it from us, not in the USA or UK.
After putting Lily in storage Bryan stayed with Ryan & Christina before starting his road trip West. His first stop was an overnight at Blue Angel Recreation Area at Pensacola, another favorite of ours, but this time he stayed in a small cabin. He then continued on to his moms, where he stayed and helped her out with a few things around the house before leaving on the 21st heading toward Brenda & Johns. He stayed overnight with his brother Patrick, Karen & Taylor in their new home and then headed to Brenda & Johns for a week.

Yay!! I finally felt well enough to go out. Ian, Kai & I went to the local beach at Ogmore Bay.
We walked down to the beach and Kai went in the sea.

| Kai took this picture, Well done Kai 👍 |
We walked down to the beach and Kai went in the sea.
Afterwards we stopped at the ice cream van in the car park, and had 99 ice creams, yummy!! They melted very quickly though so we had to be quick eating them.
It was good to get out and feel somewhat normal, ha!!ha!!

I woke up to banners and cards for my birthday. It was lovely and brought a smile to my face.
Everyone was at work and school today, but I had a birthday cake and happy birthday song later. It was lovely to celebrate with them.
Next was a trip to London..........
