March 1st - 11th, 2016 - Family, Salton Sea, & Fireworks

March 1st, 2016

We arranged to have two chips in our car windscreen fixed before they got worse and the glass company came to the campground and did that.  Although, you can still see them a little, oh well!!!

We skyped with Tinnie and Trystan and he was sitting up and trying to reach us.  It was so cute.

March 3rd, 2016

Aimee got an award for Straight A's.  She's in the pink on the left side. Congratulations young lady, well done.

We went on a day trip to the Salton Sea. We drove north along the East Side and South down the West side.

There were a lot of freight trains and some very long ones.  I think Bailey & Kai would have been fascinated with the length of them.

There are several recreation areas along the East side and basic camping along the shore.

It is quite a big expanse of water in the middle of the desert.

This is one of the campsites by the shore.

Some campers already setup for the night.

We drove to the next area.  The campground here had some full hook ups which included sewer. We would probably stay at either of these campgrounds for a few days to explore the area a little.

We continued north along the shore to the Park Headquarters and Visitor Center.  We had to pay $5 to even get to the visitor center which I don't like.  Why not have the Visitor Center easily accessible to encourage people to want to pay and visit the rest of the park.  Anyway, we paid and went on in.  There were full hook up RV sites here as well but we preferred the last parking area.  These were just in a parking lot.

We sat and ate our packed lunch by the water.  The seagulls loved it!!!!!
 Pelicans as well.

This is a wind warning light!!!

Lily having a well deserved rest

The Salton Sea is a popular stop for migrating birds who feed on the fish here.  However, the sea is getting saltier and the fish are not reproducing as much. This may lead to fewer migrating birds.

We continued our drive around the north end of the Sea and then started the return home south along the West side.  The drive back was quite boring as you couldn't see the Sea.

March 4th - 8th, 2016

A sunset taken from our site.

It got a little windy and so we stayed in.

Kai made me a card and my name went from "Old" nanny to Nanny America.  I like Nanny America makes me sound like a superhero or maybe heroine!!!!

Trystan started trying to crawl.

LeeAnn dressed for career day. Doesn't she look smart.
March 9th, 2016

It's been 18 months since we lost Mum.  Still think of her every day and miss her but life goes on.

March 10th-11th, 2016

We drove back to San Diego to see Ryan, Christina and Trystan and also pick up some mail and packages we had delivered there.  We stayed the night so we could spend some time with them and especially Ryan as we won't see him again before November when he returns from deployment.

Love these two pictures of Trystan.  Such a happy chappy!!!!

Time for dinner.  He eats his food very well.

 Playing with Daddy

 Playing with Nanny

The two days went by very quickly and soon we were heading back home.

We got back to El Centro just in time to see the Blue Angels final practice before the Air Show tomorrow.

In the evening there was a firework display.  We watched it from outside the motorhome and as is usual with military fireworks, it didn't disappoint.  Bryan had got a new lens for his camera and so he was trying out different settings to try and get used to it before the air show tomorrow. It's a shame Ryan & Christina couldn't come to the airshow and fireworks but Ryan has to work tomorrow, ugh!!!

Well, after that fantastic display, it is time for bed!!!  Looking forward to the Air Show tomorrow.
