April Fools Day-It was a miserable rainy day. It didn't stop the Navy though, we had ships returning to base. It was no April Fool!!!
I couldn't tell which ship this was, but think it was the USS Lassen - DDG-82. The only reason I say that, is because the Farragut returned about an hour later. They both left on the same day last week.
Still manning the decks in the rain.
Here's the USS Farragut (DDG-99) following about an hour later.

We've seen quite a few dolphins already but it is difficult to get pictures of them. You can see the dolphin's fin, in the picture below, if you look above where the fence curves.

I got my glasses today, so hopefully I will be able to see clearly again. It has been a frustrating time for me. I now have to get used to wearing glasses again, for the first time since I had my laser(PRK) surgery nearly 20 years ago. I am grateful though that I had that time with no glasses, what a difference it made to my life. I can still see without the glasses, but it is slightly blurry, thankfully nowhere near as bad as pre laser when I had to put my glasses on to see the alarm clock in the morning!!!
We had another nice sunset tonight.

Bryan had a doctor appointment and I finally had a haircut!!! We found out Ryan had a softball game. His first of the season, so we went to watch. We ended up staying to watch both games, and drove home in the dark. Driving in the dark is not something we do very often.

They only had about 7 players show up for the first game and ended up losing, but they didn't get whitewashed or disgrace themselves. They had a full team for the second game and won that one. Yay!!!!

Ryan, Christina, Trystan & Lilo came for a visit and we went to the beach.
Nana dug holes and made sandcastles, which Trystan promptly filled in and knocked over. Ugh!!!! Kids!! I couldn't help but laugh, and the more I laughed the more he destroyed everything!!!

They have been dredging the river while we have been here. Today they were working right in front of us, by the entrance to the Navy docks. I thought the little tugboat, Larry J Hebert, was cute and very colorful. He was keeping the dredger in position, working very hard. Like Thomas the Tank Engine!!!!

Bryan went for a walk to post some mail. Here he is returning, safe & sound.
The Carnival Elation left on a 5 day cruise to the Bahamas.

The skies were overcast and as the ship passed by, it suddenly got very overcast and visibility got very bad. I feel so bad when this happens to people leaving on a cruise, but I'm sure they were having fun inside the ship.
Next year the Carnival Ecstasy is due to cruise from Jacksonville. The Ecstasy was the ship we went on our honeymoon on 27 years ago when it was new. Maybe we might have to try and get on a cruise from here on her. We'll see.

The TSV 3 Hunter says it is a torpedo recovery vessel.
USS Thomas Hudner (DDG-116). She must have snuck in on us when we weren't around.
Today is our last day here and the coastguard bid us farewell!!
One last sunset from Mayport.
Tomorrow we leave for our trip south but I have no doubt we will return here. Actually, Bryan will be back here at the end of May for a short while.
