We booked a trip at Penns Cave. This cavern has a boat ride through the cave. You may remember we went on a previous boat ride in a cave but it only went out a short way and not through the caves. We thought we'd give this one a try.

We checked in and wandered around the gift store while we were waiting for our tour to start.

We walked slowly down to the entrance of the cave. It wasn't a bad walk downhill.
There were steps down into the entrance of the cave. Once down we took these pictures.
This is our boat. Can you see the trout in the water. Here, unlike the last cave, the trout can come and go out of the cave into the lake at the end of the caverns, and further if they want to. They do feed them here but just at certain times of the day. It's not part of the "tourist attraction" I was much happier about that.
We started our tour and it was amazing. I really enjoyed it and took two video's as we were going through. Here's a LINK to the first one, which covers the trip as we've just entered the cave and going through almost to where we get to the lake. I did stop recording part of the way and so it is not the complete outward tour.
The cave is DARK!!! Ha!!Ha!! The lights you see are illuminating the different formations and sometimes the guides flashlight.
If you look closely in the picture below you can see a bird nest in the centre of the picture with a baby bird peeking out. This was close to the exit to the lake and I thought I was recording a video but I guess I pressed the wrong button in the dark and it didn't record anything at this stage or outside on the lake, which was a great shame as it was interesting & beautiful.
At least Bryan got some pictures. |

Look for the moose/elk in the picture below. The guide did tell us what they were but I can't remember, although I think he said the type was quite rare. There is a wildlife park and maze here that you can pay extra to do but we passed on those but great for children.
Heading back into the cave.
I took another video as we were going back a different way through the cave. You can watch that HERE, it shows how close we were to the walls, in certain parts of the cave. It was an amazing tour.
Back at the entrance. You can see the steps that lead down to the cave.
We walked back up the stairs and pathway and I sat on a bench while Bryan took more pictures.
There was a gold panning area, although it was closed but good for pictures.
Our walk back to the car took us through some more photo opportunities.
We got in the car and started the drive home. Here's one of the mooses/elk/deer that we saw on our cave tour.
It started to rain on the way home.We picked up dinner and got home safe and sound after a good day out.
