Summer of 23 - UK Tour - Wildflower Cottage, Porth, Newquay, Cornwall

Thursday June 8th, 2023

We've enjoyed our time here at Wildflower Cottage and I thought I would post a final review of the place.

Hendra Paul Cottages is family run. The history of the cottages is explained in a folder in the cottage, and it is very interesting. Here's a LINK to a previous blog that I did, that has some more details/pictures about the place, and a further link to the actual owners website.

One thing that was different here than most of the places we have stayed in, is that you pay for your electric by meter.  It takes 2 pound coins, so we asked Ian if he could get those for us before we arrived. Of course I paid him for them but it saved us the worry of doing it. Thanks Ian!!

We also decided that we would buy a coffee maker, as we have been missing our brewed coffee in the mornings and we could buy a cheap one that we could take along with us.

I also think this place could be haunted!!! Not bad ghosts, but kinda weird. I see white orbs when I lie down in bed, and then when I close my eyes I can still see them, its weird. I wonder if is my eyes, so will be curious when we move. Bryan doesn't see anything.....Update: Didn't happen when we moved on from here!! Hmmmm.......

Ok, now for some pictures......

These are the lanes leading to the farm....There are small areas to stop if a vehicle comes the other way. Of course, one of you may have to reverse to it!!

The bends in the road add to the fun!!! Especially as most local drivers don't really go slowly. They know the roads well!!

We saw the cows daily from our living room window & garden

We had a washing machine but no dryer. We had no problem drying our clothes on the washing line. It took me back to my life here, and the clothes have a fresh smell.

This is the picture I was taking above, along the side of the cottage,

Loved the gate

Old Telephone Box. No longer in use.

Car parking and barn on the right, with small pond in front of it.

Loved the wall with flowers growing.

The phone box is even illuminated at night. Makes a good night light.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were located out in the country, but close enough to towns and the rest of Cornwall to be able to explore in the car.
