We were woken up by a motorhome arriving at 6am this morning and the six inhabitants shouting loudly to assist with parking it. When we got up later, we wondered what we would find but they seem pretty normal people and understandably were probably just really excited. We found out later that they had arrived at 3am but security wouldn't let them in until 6. Thank goodness for that because with the party tent behind us not stopping until well after 1am we needed as much sleep as we could get.
We got the tram to the Midway. It was packed and we felt like sardines. We saw this on the way.

Not sure what this is, cross between Earnhardt & Batman??
We went to Harvick's sales trailer and bought a hat and then walked to the front building where they had a penny machine so I could get pennies for Ryan and the grandkids.
We walked back through the tunnel to the infield and got the tram to the fanzone.

We stood and looked over at the garages again and watched the end of the
final sprint cup practice. We hung around for a while trying to decide whether to watch the Nationwide race from here or go back to the motorhome. In the end we decided to go to the motorhome as we didn't have seats here and neither of us felt like standing for an extended length of time.
We got the tram back, apprehended the dump truck so we could get our tanks emptied and had time for lunch before climbing on the roof for the
Nationwide Series race.
Here is a
VIDEO of the beginning of the race and some pictures.

These Rv's with the platform & TV on top were rentals and on the front row

Caution while they removed debris from the track

Resting, it was quite comfortable lying on top of the motorhome
|
The red truck and tent to the right were part of the drink/party place which was supposed to be the best at the track. They were on local tv. They certainly knew how to party and we were entertained until the early hours every evening/morning.
As the race finished a lone car went out of control in front of us and crashed. Seemed pretty senseless as the race had finished and there were no other cars around at the time. Here is a
VIDEO of the crash team towing him away.
It was another exhausting but enjoyable day. Tomorrow's the big one!!
