Golf, Fishing, & a stroll around Bill Frederick Park

March 28th, 2014

We decided we would play golf today at the small par 3 course in the park.  This is part of the amenities here and doesn't cost anything.  It was obvious that I don't play golf and Bryan hasn't played for a while.  It was also quite windy and that took some getting used to, at least that's our story and we're sticking to it. Ha!! Ha!!  We didn't count shots but rather who won how many holes.  Bryan won more holes than me but we were above par on most of the holes.  I got par on two of the holes and Bryan on one.  There were no Birdies or Eagles but mostly bogeys, even double and triple bogeys but we enjoyed it.

After the golf, we went to look at a resort that is near to here. Vista Del Lago has mobile homes on lots that are spaced apart more than the park we are staying in.  We had to be with an agent to go into the community and so we went and spoke to the agent who took us around, showed us the club house, pools, spas, sauna, lakes and this new home.  It was a very nice community where you buy your home but you don't buy your land, you lease it and the lease costs run between $400 & $500 a month.  It is something to think about as your landscaping is done for you and so you don't have to worry about it.  There were other homes for sale but it was getting late and as we don't really want to buy at the moment we didn't waste any more of the agents time.

Oh, and we had a visitor today in our bedroom.  I went to get something out of the closet and something moved.  As I stepped back I saw a lizard on the mirror on the outside of the door.  I went and got Bryan who thankfully caught it and put it outside.  Now I happen to think lizards are quite cute but thank goodness this little fella didn't decide he wanted to sleep with me!!!!

Today, the weather caught up with us.  It poured with rain, we had a bad thunderstorm and tornado warnings which fortunately were more to the East of us.  This weather continued for two or three hours and then late afternoon the sun came out.  Bryan decided to try his luck fishing in the canal behind us and was out there for a while but had no luck.  It was relaxing for him to do though.  That's two things we've done this week that we haven't done for a while.  Golf & Fishing.

March 30th, 2014

Well our week at Outdoor Resorts is up and we moved back to Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake near Orlando today.  Bryan got up early and did some more fishing before we left but still no luck.  We only had to drive 22 miles and so were in no hurry. That was just as well as we got caught in the traffic on I4.  Maybe everyone was going to Disneyworld!!
The weather today was beautiful and the sun was shining in complete contrast to yesterday.

We got setup in our site and after some problems with getting the satellite to lock on for a TV picture we eventually got the right angle and we have all channels.  We will be here until April 18th when we will start to head north.

We were taking it easy today.  Bryan discovered there is an Upper Heyford reunion in Dayton, Ohio in September so we are thinking of attending.  The museum at Dayton is on our list of places to go and we think the timing will work well after our visit to Niagara Falls as we head south for winter.
Bryan did laundry and after lunch we went for a walk around the park here.  Bill Frederick Park is 178 acres and close to Universal Studios and Disneyworld.  Here are some photos taken by someone doing the 2.4 mile walk around the perimeter of the park.
We covered some of these areas in our walk today.
Oh no, I look like Diana from Waiting For God!!!

This very short VIDEO shows what we think are small minnows jumping for flies but it could be anything!!!

Frisbee Golf Hole#5, the target is across the bridge

Floating Dock
This dock was a floating dock.  Here is a VIDEO of Bryan making the dock move!!

Cabins
I thought the cabins might work for the kids if they ever came to Disneyworld but I found out that they have bunk beds and air conditioning but no kitchen or bathroom.  They sleep 10.
Didn't see any today but will have to look out for them

Lizard, shedding his skin.

We only covered a very small part of the park today but will try and explore the rest later.
