Ryan's Deployment

April 10th, 2014

We got up early as I had an appointment to get bloodwork done.  I still have my doctor in Las Vegas and I am getting my regular bloodwork checks and then will discuss with him to get refills on my current prescriptions.  As I was sitting in the waiting room I was reminded on the news that there is a  rocket launch at Cape Caneveral today so I asked Bryan and we decided we would drive out there.
We went for some breakfast and Ryan called us to say goodbye before he left on his deployment.  It was a sad day but it is good to know he is doing something he enjoys, although we know it is harder for him now that he is married and a newlywed at that.

We headed home to check if some mail had arrived for us and wait until it was time to leave for Cape Caneveral.  Our mail hadn't arrived and after a short time we headed out for the rocket launch.  Unfortunately, we timed it wrong and due to "Bitchin Betty" our GPS we went the wrong way.  I'm not sure what it is but just lately she has been getting roads confused!!  It may be that some of the  roads here are parallel to each other or they are next to each other and she gets confused which one she's on.  I can understand that.  Today we ended up going West instead of East and it added about ten miles to our journey.  Now that doesn't sound much but with the traffic in Orlando we realized we wouldn't get to the launch viewing site in time to see it and so we chose to go home and watch it on TV instead.  It wasn't worth risking a 60 mile trip and then missing it.  Oh well, another time maybe.

We were in sad moods because of Ryan and a little irritated that we missed the launch but we kept in touch with Christina and got these pictures and news reports about the ships departure.

Here is a news VIDEO from the local TV station, showing the ships departure.  Ryan is on here at about one minute in, next to a guy in dark glasses.  At the very end he is on the top deck, there are only two of them there.  Before the video starts Ryan is in the picture shown, next to the guy in the dark glasses.  We are so proud of him.

Good Luck out there USS McCluskey (Mighty Mac) and all who sail on her, we will miss you and wait for your safe return.  Hooyah!!!
