Summer of 18-#18-Kalamazoo Lighthouse, Coastal Town, Car Racing, Planning, & a Wedding

June 10th - June 11th, 2018

We took it easy for a couple of days to catch our breath, after our entertaining, informative and fun day out.

June 12th, 2018

We decided to go for a drive and visit another lighthouse, there's a surprise for you.  This one was a replica though.  It was quite a long drive to Kalamazoo Replica Lighthouse but we eventually found it.  It is in the middle of being renovated, the inside still needs work done.

Lily Pads, didn't see any frogs though.

This plaque gives the history of New Singapore

There were a lot of feathers

We decided to go and have a look at the small town on the other side of the river.  Saugatuck was originally a lumber town and port.  It became an Art and tourist destination.

The streets were very colorful and inviting.

Prices weren't too bad.  Good job we have no room!!
We saw this squirrel amongst the grass borders
The history of Singapore, Michigan.

We noticed that the street lights consisted of a single lamp on wire over the centre of the road.
Can you see the street light hanging over the middle of the road.
Here's a close up
We were getting hungry and were having Olive Garden withdrawal symptoms. We hadn't eaten at OG since we left Jacksonville in April, so we found where the closest ones were and ultimately chose one about 40 miles!!!! away, and on a slightly round about way home!!  We do like to see as much as possible!!

We had a lovely dinner and then headed home.

June 13th - 15th, 2018

Again, just doing normal household stuff and planning.  Bryan went to the local racetrack on the night of Friday 15th while I stayed at home and had some quiet time. He enjoyed his time at I96 Speedway watching the races and talking to the locals.

Fireworks to end the night.

June 16th - 22nd, 2018
After much discussion we decided to go to Niagara Falls next week. Top of my wish list!! It started with a deal appearing in our e-mail!!!!  We had previously decided we couldn't afford it and we really can't, BUT we have no idea when we will be this close again (5 hours drive, hmmm).  We have had several friends with health issues, and the fact is, none of us know what is in the future.  AND it is my 65th birthday on Monday 25th, the age when you are officially OLD!!!!  So, after a few days of going back and forth on whether to go or not, it took a few more days, to work out where we were staying and what we wanted to see.

We visited with J&K and took time out one day to help them move to a new place.

June 23rd, 2018
We were invited to J&K's sons wedding.  It was in a lovely small country church, but unfortunately we didn't get a picture of the outside. We had a lovely time, the bride looked beautiful and the groom proud. Congratulations Jonathan & Trish.

Catching the bouquet
Ok, only 3 pictures because these took me an hour to post.  Something wrong with our SD card.  Have to get that fixed before we take pictures at Niagara.

We came home and finished most of our packing ready for our trip to Niagara Falls tomorrow.  Excited!!!!!!!!

Oh, and look I've caught up with the blog, for this trip at least.  Wonder how long that will last!!! 😉
