Once back on the bus we set off to a place we would stop at for lunch. On the way we stopped at an old monastery. Ron said he had never seen anyone here.

Ron told us the portions were huge and we should consider sharing a plate. We decided to share a burger and fries. We only had 30 minutes, so got in line to order. The line wasn't moving very quickly, but there were only a couple of people in front of us so we waited. Then, along came friends of the people in front of us who seemed to be going to add to that order. The first people in the line were still waiting for their order and time was ticking by. We decided we would get in the hot dog line instead as no one was there. That should have been our clue!!!! We got our hot dogs and shared an order of fries. It was over $20 and we couldn't eat it!! The Hot Dogs were disgusting. I used the bun and put french fries in it, and made a chip butty and Bryan just had fries. We were so upset, especially when we then saw the burgers which looked delicious. We should have just stood our ground, and waited for the burgers, but we wouldn't have had time to eat them, as we made it back to the bus just on time anyway.
A few of us took each others pictures "in a barrel going over Niagara Falls"
Next we stopped to see the Niagara Whirlpool and Whirlpool Aerocar. It was a short stop but extremely beautiful and the aerocar gave it an extra photographic opportunity.
There are jet boat trips to the Whirlpool as well. You can see one of the boats in this picture.
The aerocar was unique and I was tempted to come back another day and take a ride, but decided it wasn't worth it when Ron showed us the other side and we saw that there was nothing spectacular there.

The whirlpool is created by the dramatic curve in the river.

We stopped to look at the huge hydroelectric generating plant on the Canada side. This diverts water from the river and uses it at night to create electricity for the next days use. The water is then held in a reservoir until a determination is made if it is needed to feed the falls. A stipulated amount of water must go over the falls and this amount is increased during the summer months. There are more details of this HERE. I found it quite interesting.
and we had another group picture taken!!! We were lucky as it was a fun group.
