We were walking back to the car from Luna Island, when I noticed an area we hadn't been to. I said to Bryan shall we just walk over there quickly. We were both getting hungry, but decided a quick look wouldn't hurt.
This is what we found. Horseshoe Falls, is also known as the Canadian Falls although part of it is in the USA. This viewpoint, Terrapin Point, is from the American side.

A family were about to take a selfie here, so we offered to take the picture for them. They then took our picture. I was in the middle of taking a Facebook live video so you probably heard some of the conversation we had with them.

| Water going over the falls |
The force of the water going over the falls and crashing on the rocks below creates a spray mist. It's hard to believe these pictures were taken at the same time as the others as the coloring is completely different as a result of the angle and the spray.

To give you a perspective of where we were today, I'm going to cheat and put a picture that was taken 3 days later, while we were at our hotel on the Canadian side. This was the view from the windows in our room. This shows the American side of the falls and part of the Horseshoe Falls. Unfortunately the Casino Tower blocks the area that this blog focuses on, but the pictures above were taken from the other side of the river behind the tower.
The pictures for the Luna Island blog were taken at the top of the American Falls on the left. You can see the American Falls are split between the large one, and a smaller one on the right of it, with a piece of land/green between the two. That is part of Luna Island and that's where we were standing looking down when we saw the rainbow. The whole island, separated from the mainland on the left is Goat Island and Luna Island is part of Goat Island.
We finally decided it was time to go and eat. We stopped for my birthday dinner at Olive Garden, which was only 3 miles from our hotel on base. It was one of the best Olive Gardens we have been too, and we didn't even tell them it was my birthday. I had a sangria and Bryan had an Angry Orchard. We were also asked if we'd like to sample a Frozen Watermelon drink, which we did and then Bryan sampled a cherry one. The salad bowl was nearly full which was lovely, and I ended up taking leftovers home. I have noticed in the South recently, that the amount of salad that you get in the bowl is getting smaller and smaller. Yes, there are free refills if you ask, but I feel as though they're trying to discourage you from having as much.
All in all, I had a fantastic birthday that I won't forget anytime soon. The bonus is we still have 3 more days here.
We were both exhausted and Bryan took this picture of me going to sleep. We both slept extremely well. The beds here are very comfortable.
