Susie's 65th-Part 4-Luna Island, Niagara Falls, USA

Monday June 25th, 2018 -  3 of 4

After completing a circular tour on the Niagara Scenic Trolley bus, we were back on Goat Island, and ready to do some walking and exploring.

I really had no idea what Luna Island was, but thought we should go and have a look.  Are we glad we did!!!!  I think it is one of the best places to view the American & Bridal Veil Falls.

The walkway to this area is tucked beside the Cave of the Winds and can be easily missed.  Do NOT miss it if you ever visit, there is no charge to go to this area.

The view as you enter the area.  If you think this is fabulous continue down the steps on the right and walk along the lower pathway.

This statue of Nikola Tesla was relocated to this position in 2016.  He invented alternating current, and brought his invention to Niagara Falls New York, where the world's largest hydro-electric plant, at the time, was built.  There is one on the Canadian side as well.

The seagulls have a good view here as well.  Might not be a bad life, coming back as a seagull at Niagara Falls.  I'd love the views and who knows, maybe, just maybe, I'd see people who had been nasty, dishonest or treated me badly during my life.  Revenge would be sweet!!!  My evil thoughts are probably the reason I wouldn't be allowed to come back here as a seagull. 😈

Here I am, alias a seagull, looking for my victim!!!!  Maybe I'll get distracted by the view and be nice and they'll be no victims!!  I have to poop somewhere though don't I!!!!

The Hornblower boat again.  They are continuously running these trips and always seem to be full!!!

Just look at this view, could anything be better.  Just wait & see!!  We will be going down to that lower level where the people are standing.  Are you ready?
The bridge in the background is Rainbow Bridge, which is the bridge to Canada.
This is the river cascading toward the falls.  The people on the far side are viewing at Prospect Point, where the trolley can take you.

We went down the steps to the lower level.  There were so many different scenes.  Firstly, the river meandering towards the falls.

Then around a corner and the river meets the falls!!

This is the American Falls.  You can get so close to the top, it is breathtaking and the sound!!!!

Then finally, you get to see over the falls. The water crashes down onto the rocks below!!!

Me, going live on Facebook!!! Here's a link to the VIDEO.  In the video you can also see a group of Amish people.  I'm not sure why, but the Amish have always fascinated me, in a way I admire them.

The Hornblower at the base of Horseshoe Falls, with Bridal Veil Falls in the foreground.

We were at the top between American Falls & Bridal Veil Falls and to make my day even more complete, I was the first to spot a rainbow.  Happy Birthday to me!! 🎉 I had it to myself for a couple of minutes.  It was so awesome.  I quickly got Bryan so he could take pictures.

Do you think there's a double rainbow there?

Looking down over Bridal Veil Falls to the Cave of Winds walkway below.  That's where we were earlier today, but I was enjoying this experience far more than that, as awesome as it was.  Maybe because I could control if my face got wet more up here, than down there!!!  Just as I was thinking that, the wind changed direction and everyone got soaked from the spray, ha!!ha!!

I felt as though I never wanted to leave, but all good things have to end and there was still more to see.  We walked back up the steps and then sat down at the top, with a view back over the falls.  We were there for a while, just taking it all in.

One last look from here!!!  There's Bryan & I as seagulls!!!😉

The day hasn't ended yet. Next stop (blog) will be the Horseshoe Falls.  See you there. 😀
