After our long day yesterday we decided to stay closer to home today. It's also the weekend so we typically don't like to go out with the crowds.
However South Wales Aviation Museum in nearby St. Athan was having an open house and we decided to go and take a look at this relatively new and upcoming museum. Here's some pictures Bryan took.

We joined the line to go into the cockpit where this volunteer was answering questions. Somehow when it was our turn the subject of the International Air Tattoo came up. Bryan was the first American to volunteer there after I saw a request for volunteers at Upper Heyford. He is still friends with some of the RAF guys. It turned out that this gentleman was also friends with one of them and had been with him at the air show the previous weekend. He showed us a picture. What a coincidence. Needless to say we didn't get the usual information on the plane but spent our brief time, there was a line of people waiting to see the plane, talking about friends. What a small world.
There were a couple of interesting exhibits as well.
They have done a good job so far and we enjoyed our visit. We will no doubt return when we are back in Wales to see what progress has been made.

We stayed in today, cleaned house and the ice cream man visited as a reward. Bryan went out to get us ice creams. I had a "99", can't get these in the States. A cone with soft whip vanilla ice cream and a cadburys chocolate flake in it. Yummy!!!!
A little bit of nostalgia to end with. When I was in junior school my uncle had an ice cream van for a short while. He used to be outside the school selling ice cream as school was dismissed. The kids were all envious as I often got a free ice cream, and a ride home in the ice cream truck with him, ha!! ha!!
