Summer of 19 - #33 - Moving Days, New Campgrounds, Wildlife, West Point, Ga & Eufaula, Al

Thursday October 10th, 2019
It was moving day again today.  Everything was going well until we ran over a shredded truck tire.  There was no way to avoid it, as there was traffic in the lane next to us, and we were going at freeway speed.  We stopped to see if there was any damage to the motorhome or car.  The motorhome was ok, but it had caught the front bumper of the car, that resulted in the screws being pulled out of the bracket that holds the airline to the brakes for the car, from the motorhome.  The airline itself wasn't damaged and the brakes still work.  Bryan managed to secure the bracket. It also slightly damaged the back bumper of the car which we will have to get fixed.  Thankfully it was nothing too serious.
The rest of the trip was uneventful and we arrived safely at R Shaefer Heard Campground in West Point, Georgia.

We are only here for two nights so once we got settled into our campsite we decided to go and get something to eat, and have a drive around the campground.

As we were driving through the campground we saw this deer through the trees.

The campground here is quite nice.  Unfortunately the site we got is a little squashed in to the site next to it.  We aren't able to get a satellite signal because of the trees and our internet signal is quite weak. There were not many options when I booked it, as one of our nights is a Friday.  There are a lot  of far nicer sites here, and more open that would have been better if they had been available.

This campsite has more space and is more open than ours

We saw more deer as we drove around.

Back at our campsite we took some pictures outside.  We still have a nice view of the lake.
From the back of our site
To the right of these pictures is a forest which was behind us.  We both joked that we better watch out for Sasquatch, although it was a little spooky!!!!

We walked down just a few steps and we were on the "beach" by our site.  It was a mixture of sand and mud, but walkable.  The light reflecting through the trees and water was amazing.

We took a picture of our shadows on the sand

We stayed in today and relaxed.

This guy came to say farewell to us this morning, as we were getting ready to move on to the next campground.

and on the road we got.  We crossed the border into Alabama and immediately gained an hour.  We are now on Central time, same as mom and 6 hours behind UK.

We drove through Eufaula, Alabama.  There were some amazing older houses.

Will have to find out who this statue is
Crossing Lake Eufaula.  I didn't notice the lady wavy her arms frantically but Bryan did, and wondered what she was trying to tell us.  We couldn't see anything wrong but it was a little worrying.

Once we got to the campground which wasn't far we looked all around Lily & Tilly and everything seemed fine, so maybe we just weren't going fast enough for her, who knows!!!!

We arrived at White Oak Creek Campground on Lake Eufaula.  It took a while to get into our site as the driveway was steep and we had to take the tow bar off of Lily as it dragged on the concrete.  Usually we just have to unhook our car from the tow bar and leave it on Lily to get into a spot.  Just an extra step we didn't anticipate.

We were soon settled in and watching the boats on the lake.

We must be getting tired as we didn't get any pictures of the campground sign or entrance, oops!!!! We're here for three nights before moving on.  Take Care 😀
