As the weather forecast wasn't that good we decided to go to Hood River and the Western Antique Airplane & Automobile Museum there. We paid $12 each (veteran & senior rate) to get in, it was well worth it.
There were so many cars, planes, antiques and historical artifacts here, these pictures show a few of them
Here I am taking pictures of what I found interesting. There were pages from Orville Wrights diary written on December 17th, 1903 and the days following. Here is a LINK to a transcript of these pages and the story behind the first flight.
How amazing is this!!
This was a story about the Stewart family and so naturally I had to take pictures!!!!
This picture is for Ryan
Dodge Bros Family Tree!!
These pictures are for the boys!!! There was a great playroom for the children here.
After the museum, we decided to drive back along the Columbia River Gorge on the Washington side. There was a toll fee of $2 to cross the bridge at Hood River.
It's the 100 year old anniversary of the gorge this year.
We stopped at Spring Creek to get some pictures of the river.
We saw these parasailers and windsurfers and sat and watched them for a while.
The views were amazing.
A train on the Oregon side, probably one of the ones we hear at the campground!!!
The road went through some tunnels
We stopped at this small lake.
The tunnel from the other side, taken from the lake.
We got to this accident minutes after it happened and wondered if it was a truck that had blown his horn at us earlier because he thought we were going to slow on the winding road. We pulled over and let him past as we weren't going to go any faster. We were not crawling along but driving at a speed that was good for the road.
We saw a barge going along the river pushing a load of timber, so we got ahead of it and found somewhere to park so we could get a picture as it came along.
As it happened we couldn't have chosen a better place as although we couldn't see the river from the road we just chose a road to drive down in the direction of the river and look what we found!!!
It was a beautiful area and there were cabins here to rent.
I saw this unusual wood shape in the rocks
A close up view. I think someone must have carved this as I can't imagine it has naturally shaped like this but who knows.
Here is the barge pushing the logs downstream.
It went under the Bridge of Gods. It is said that Charles Lindbergh flew under the bridge while piloting the Spirit of St. Louis in September 1927. Would have loved to have seen that!!!!!
This unusual sculpture was here as well.
Here is todays picture of Trystan. he's feeling very pleased with himself as he climbed up here all by himself!!! He's not 10 months yet, we're going to have trouble with this one I can see!!!!

Today we had a dinner date with a friend of ours who now lives south of Portland. We arranged to meet at Olive Garden and had a lovely lunch and catch up. We wouldn't have met this amazing lady if we hadn't decided on our nomadic life and feel honored to know her.
Until the next time, take care everyone.
