Collier Memorial State Park & Logging Museum, Chiloquin, Oregon

July 20th, 2016

We moved to Collier Memorial State Park in Chiloquin, Oregon where we will stay for four nights.  There is a logging museum here and we are quite close to Crater Lake so we plan on doing both in the next four days.

July 21st, 2016

We found out we could walk to the logging museum from the campground and it was a nice half mile walk along the river.  There was a couple fly fishing for trout.

Here is a short VIDEO of the river and shows the fly fisherman casting.

The Williamson River/Spring Creek meet here and the water was flowing fast.  It was a beautiful walk although quite warm.

Love the different colors

The water was calmer looking up toward the museum
Looking back toward the road bridge that we just walked under
We crossed the river to the Collier Logging Museum.  It was free and bigger than we expected.

The map shows where we entered after crossing the river.  There was no one in sight and we seemed to have the place to ourselves.

There were detailed descriptions of most of the buildings and machinery.

We encountered the first people we had seen since we arrived as we realized we had come in the back entrance to the park.  These are the front gates.

Yep, an outhouse
This one was made for two!!!  Neither of us would have liked that!!

As we walked back to the campground we took this picture from across the river.

Bird on the rock

We saw some beautiful birds as we got back to the campgrounds and they were singing away to us.  It was a lovely end to our walk.

This one was waiting for us at our campsite.
What a lovely day, we saw some amazing history, and nature at it's best, all within walking distance of our site.  Tomorrow we are going to Crater Lake, where we have booked a tram ride around the lake.
