Crooked River Ranch, Peterson Rock Garden, Alpacas

July 18th, 2016

Ryan is growing a mustache!!!

Today we drove to Peterson Rock Garden, in Redmond, Oregon.  A Danish immigrant began constructing these models, from rocks and shells, in 1935 and continued until his death in 1952. In 2011 it was named as one of Oregon's most endangered places.  There is no set admission fee but donations are asked for.  The family are trying to keep it from deteriorating any further but it looks as though it is an uphill struggle.

Unfortunately Bryan left his camera at home and so we used our phones to take these pictures.

Logging Wheel

There was a small museum with old rocks and gems.

Can you see the ghost??

There were a lot of peacocks in the grounds and they were very tame.

Bryan just fit!!

See the mini waterfall

Pond covered in lily pads
This was the only frog we saw
It was interesting walking around and seeing what we could spot next.

We headed back toward the house and stopped to look at these alpacas at Crescent Moon Ranch

We saw this old wagon as we were driving by.

An old McDonalds Hamburglar
Getting closer to home we took some pictures of the golf course next to the RV park.

Hand made statue
There were some homesites along the road and some for sale.  This area is quiet and scenic.

Back at the campground we went for a walk to look at the gorge.  We saw the path winding along the bottom but couldn't find a way down to it.   Probably just as well as we would have struggled walking back up.  The scenery was amazing and even better as these pictures were all taken from within the RV park.

and some sunset pictures

We didn't go very far today but saw a lot of interesting things.
