I took these pictures before we left our campground here on Patrick AFB. The sites in front of us were empty and we had a good view of the waterfront. There is a small beach there according to the tides. Today, there was a man fishing. As I was watching him, two others came up on a boat and just passed by.

We got everything packed up and headed out. It wasn't a relaxing drive as Bryan had to fight the winds for most of the journey and then we hit traffic approaching and in Ft. Lauderdale. Eventually we got to our destination. C B Smith Park & Campground is a nice park with many activities that you can enjoy. The main reason for our stay here is to visit a friend of mine from England. We haven't seen each other for 32 years and so we have waited long enough!!!!

Yvette came to pick us up and take us back to her house, where Steve was finishing up some odds and ends. They gave us a tour of the house. Yvette and I had a lot of catching up to do, and it wasn't long before we were chatting away, looking at photos and reminiscing. Steve and Bryan got along well. We went out for breakfast/brunch to a local place that they know. The food was good and plentiful and it took us a while as we were talking non stop and hardly had time to eat!!! Ha!!Ha!! It was so good to see them both. We went back to their house, carried on with our memories and met their youngest son. The time flew by and then we could see there was a storm coming. As Yvette had to take us back we quickly got our things together and headed out. Unfortunately, we hadn't got very far and the heavens opened up and there was a torrential downpour. Poor Yvette, the windshield wipers struggled to keep up!! She dropped us off at our campsite, we thanked her and told her to be careful getting home. We ran inside quickly, but still got drenched. After we changed out of our wet clothes, we sat and relaxed and listened to the rain. We haven't been in a storm like that for a long, long while.

On our way out to breakfast this morning we saw an iguana sitting in the middle of the road. We waited for him to decide to move out of the way and then proceeded on our way. We met Steve and Yvette at their house and we went for breakfast/brunch again. The weather is still very changeable and it is quite warm and humid. We went for a look around a couple of goodwill stores to see if we could find any good stuff but didn't find anything. We had our afternoon tea and biscuits and more chatter!!!!! We left in time to get back to the park before they close the gates at 7pm.

We are staying in today. Bryan wants to watch Nascar, and we are letting Yvette get caught up on some stuff. I looked out of our bedroom window and saw the iguanas.

This one kept peeking up out of the water, it was so funny.
Then I spotted this in the water. I couldn't tell what it was and for a brief moment thought it might be a manatee. I called Bryan and he looked at it for a while through the binoculars. Then we decided it was just a log or piece of something. A few minutes later we were laughing at the very thought that we even considered it was a manatee as how would it have got into a lake!!!!!

The park has a lot of areas that you can use for parties/events.
After Yvette left we had another heavy rain storm, but we saw a rainbow as the sun shone through afterwards.
Bridge on the other side of the lake.
This bird came to visit.

We went and got some shopping and then stayed in the rest of the day, watching sports.

Yvette and I went out shopping. On the way out of the campground we saw a lot of iguanas, some running. They look like miniature dinosaurs.
I was looking for some things, and we just went to the mall and wondered around. I ended up buying a new purse. Yvette was kind enough to put our quilt in her washing machine and dryer for us. It's the only thing that won't fit in our small washer/dryer combination. Thanks Yvette. We all went out for dinner and finally got a picture. Thanks Aaron.

We were supposed to leave today and go further south to Miami, but we decided to just stay here. We wanted to stay until next Tuesday, but they don't have anything available this weekend, so we are leaving on Saturday. We had to change sites though, so we packed everything up and moved to the lower section of the campground.
I took this picture out of the front window of Lily before we moved.
