This morning we decided to do a "Feel the Thrill Speedway Tour", here at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
We checked in and soon we were on a small minivan with about 8 other people and offfff we go!!!!
First we went over to where we are camped in Lily and our guide told us about the history of the speedway.
Next was the Z Max Dragway dragstrip. It is 4 lanes wide.
Here's a VIDEO showing our driver driving alongside the dragstrip and explaining it to us. The motorhome at the very end of the video is Lily, our motorhome.
Here's the gravel pit at the end, that is a last ditch place to stop cars in the event they run out of track, which is very unlikely as it's a long strip!!!
Next was the Dirt Track.
They were getting it ready for the Monster Truck show tomorrow night.

Next we drove to the main speedway, under the road and then through the infield tunnel.

and we were in the infield. Nothing new for Bryan as he worked in the infield at Las Vegas Motor Speedway as a Safety/EMT but still good to see at another track.

We got taken on the track. Here's a VIDEO showing us speeding around the track and the guide explaining everything.
We went to Winners Circle to have our pictures taken. Unfortunately, there was a film crew filming next to the winners circle and so we were told to keep our voices down so we didn't interrupt their recording. The recording had also disrupted the tour slightly as we weren't allowed in certain areas, especially the pits, where they were filming that we would normally have seen. It would have been nice if they had told us that, or there had been a note online of this when we booked and we could have booked another day/time but there wasn't.

After we returned and we were leaving in our car, there was a fire truck with lights flashing near the entrance. Not sure what that was about.

Bryan's going to the Dragstrip for the races tonight, so they'll be another blog with more pictures to follow.
