We have a lot of lighthouses to pack in this week and so we went out for the second day running!!! Shock, horror, shock!!!
Grand Haven Lighthouse was our lighthouse today. It's located in Grand Haven State Park and we used our Michigan State Pass to get in to park.
They were working on the pier and had the rear of it fenced off. This picture shows the South Pierhead Inner Light in the front, with the Outer Light behind it, and the cranes being used in the maintenance work on the pier.
It was quite a sight. There were a lot of people around as well. Thank goodness it wasn't the weekend. One of the things we enjoy about retirement is being able to sightsee during the week. 😀
The tower is closed to the public.
We walked up to the fence that you see in the picture above and took the next three pictures through it. You can see where they are working.

First we went to the Visitor Center to get a stamp for our lighthouse passport. We didn't realize it, but the Tri-Cities Historical Museum was on the road behind it. Anyway, we got in the car and drove around the block twice before we found it!!! It would have been quicker to walk. 😂
The museum has a good history of the region.

There were re-creations of a shop
and rooms in a victorian home.
On the second floor there was a WWI exhibit
and an exhibit featuring the coastguards and lighthouse keepers.

and an old fashioned soda fountain.
There was a children's section, so I reverted to my childlike person. Not hard for me to do!!
This was the street we parked on and where the museum was located.
Not sure what this was, but an interesting building.
That's it for today. See you next time!!
