Summer of 18-#24-Life is not all roses on the road, moving day & electrical problems!!!!

Friday July 13th, 2018

We headed out on the way to our next campground.  Bye Bye Montague, we will miss you.

It was a pretty drive.

Lots of wild flowers along the way.

We arrived at Timberline Campground in Benzonia, Michigan.  We will be here for a month and are looking forward to some downtime.

It took a while to get positioned in the site so we could get a satellite signal, and then when we plugged in, the 30amp was only showing 18amp coming in.  We couldn't run the air conditioner.  We knew it was 30amp here but we can normally run one air conditioner at a time.  It didn't help because it was a hot day.  The campground manager came out and checked the voltage at the post, it seemed ok.  It appeared that the plug on our cable had given up.  Remember a few campgrounds ago, when they put two of us on the same pole and our surge protector melted!!  Well our electrical plug was obviously affected as well.  Happy Friday 13th to us!!  What a welcome to a new campground.

We went to a rv store locally and they didn't have the plug we needed, but said they would have their mechanic come and have a look on his way back from a job he was out on.

He came out but said we needed to get a new plug.  We decided we would get one the next day from a store in Traverse City about 45 minutes away.  The mechanic would then come out on Monday and wire it in for us.

In the meantime we managed to get the air conditioner in the bedroom to work and we had a fan in the front.  It was still hot but we managed.

Saturday July 14th, 2018 - Monday July 16th, 2018

We watched the England v Croatia World Cup semifinal.  They didn't play well and lost 2-1.  I also watched Wimbledon and Bryan had Nascar.  We had a very busy, sports armchair spectator weekend!!!  We did manage to go to Traverse City and get the new power plug that we needed, and some shopping.

On Monday, the mechanic came back and wired the new electrical plug we had bought, and we could finally use our front air conditioner again.

The mechanic was really helpful, especially as he don't usually work on 50amp rigs and electrics.  That's a shame as we need someone to repair our washing machine and awning.

We will have to buy a new surge protector as soon as possible to protect us from future events as our one certainly saved us from "frying" more inside electronics and having to replace those as well.

Tomorrow we are going out for a drive.
