On the road again, more birthdays and wildlife

May 2nd, 2014

As we left NAS Mayport we took pictures of the gun and helicopter that are on show by the front gate. This gun is the same as the one that Ryan has on his ship.

I call this R2-D2
I worked on getting my repaired laptop updated while we were going along.  I actually managed to get a lot done.

I took pictures of the State signs as we crossed the Georgia and South Carolina borders.  It was raining as we crossed into Georgia and the windscreen wiper on my side stopped again.

We had thought we might get a lot of rain and wind and were prepared to stop if we had to but it wasn't bad and didn't rain too much.

We arrived at Camp Lake Jasper in Hardeeville, South Carolina which is just north of Savannah and really close to the border with Georgia.

Today is an important day for my eldest son Ian and my brother Ray.  They both celebrate their birthdays. HaPpy HaPpy Birthday to both of you.  When I was expecting Ian I actually had a false labor the week before he arrived and we thought he was going to be born on my dad's birthday but then he changed his mind and arrived a week later.  So, he got to share a birthday with Ray instead.  I called both of them but only Ray answered and was the lucky one who got me singing Happy Birthday to him.  Here's an OLD picture of me, Ian & Ray!!!

We weren't going to do much today and decided to go to Camping World to get a couple of things we needed for Lily.  We had to cross the state line back into Georgia and stopped at the Visitor Center on the way to pick up some information.  I took a picture of this old anchor that was there.

We are having some problems with our air conditioner and water pressure.  At one time today all our power went off.  Our neighbor came over to help and his wife told us there are alligators in the lake on the trail that you can walk here.  She said there is a bigger one about 4 feet and two smaller ones that they have seen.  The smaller ones move away when they get near but the bigger one just stays where she/he is and doesn't move.  We got our power back on but will have to get someone to look at our air conditioner that is not working properly.  It is getting warmer and we definitely need it.

We had some visitors today.  A squirrel and a woodpecker both at the same time.  The woodpecker was quite noisy.

We decided to go for a walk and see if we could find the alligators we were told about yesterday.  I must admit it was a bit scary as I wasn't sure we could outrun alligators and so I didn't venture very far. We didn't see any on the short walk that we did.

Notice that I am further back than he is.  Bryan was more worried about snakes than alligators.

Are these alligator marks???

That's all for now from South Carolina.........
