Summer of 18-#51-Campgrounds, Goodbye Michigan, Hello Ohio!!!

Sunday September 2nd, 2018

We stayed in today.  I worked on the blog and we had a walk around the park.

Cute sign at the entry to the lake area
There was a small lake for swimming and fishing!!!  Swimming on the left side, fishing on the right.  I'm sure the fish, if there were any, swam wherever they wanted.  It looked as though they had bought sand in to create a small beach.

Totem Pole, it is Totem Pole RV park after all.
The playground had a good variety of equipment to play on.

The office, and notice the barrier over the exit.  There was one on the entrance as well.  We got a coded card that we had to swipe to get in and out.  The front gate is also closed at 10 o'clock.

Another Totem Pole
They gave tractor rides in the evening.

This is a nice campground with a lot of seasonal sites.  Everyone knew each other and it was like a small neighborhood.  It was really quiet for a holiday weekend as well, which was nice and unexpected.

We left to go to our next campground which is in Ohio, so we added another state to our travel map.  Goodbye Michigan, Hello Ohio.

There were roadworks, and the road narrowed to one lane that had concrete blocks along each side.  This made it narrow, and a little scary as you can't argue with concrete can you?  Unlike the plastic cones that if you happen to tap them there's no damage done.  Bryan had to focus really well for quite a long stretch of road to make sure he didn't stray.  Not that he has a problem with that, but the motorhome is quite wide and there's not a lot of room for error in a situation like this.

We saw the sign for Route 66, that's where you get your kicks!!!!  Guess where we're going?  St. Marys!!!

We arrived at Grand Lake St Marys State Park Campground.  It was nearly empty, but the dumpsters were overflowing which indicated they had a busy weekend.  Glad everyone had left, and we had the place nearly to ourselves.

We had a view of the lake through the front windscreen.

We put the Ohio sticker on our state map. Yeah!!!

Guess what we are going to do tomorrow?  Lighthouses, of course.  Yes, there are lighthouses on this inland lake in Ohio.  These will probably be the last lighthouses we see on this trip.  Is that a sigh of relief I hear from all of you!!!  We are also going to look at an old canal boat.  Until then, take care.
