Summer of 18-#52-Grand Lake Lighthouses, Celina and St. Marys

Tuesday September 4th, 2018 - Part 1 of 2
We had a very photogenic day today, and once again I can't put all the pictures on one blog.  So, there are two blogs for today.

The first blog has the three lighthouses we saw today, which were all on Grand Lake, and some pictures from the town of St. Marys.

Northwood Lighthouse is privately owned and not open to the public.  We managed to go into the housing development and this was the closest we could get.

Next, we went to Celina.

and the Celina Lighthouse.  It was such an unusual design and in an awesome setting. The tower is closed but you can walk up the few external steps to the lower observation deck.

There I am on the observation deck.

It was a beautiful day and you could see the clouds reflected in the lake.  It made for some great pictures.

Big Bob is claimed to be the largest, man made, bass in the world.  My, what a big mouth you've got!!!!

We were here for quite a while as it was so beautiful and relaxing.

On the way to the next lighthouse, I was looking at the clouds and saw the outline of the UK, with what looked like a clown face jutting out of what would be the North-East Coast.  Imagination is a wonderful thing!!

Our last lighthouse today was Behm's (Grimm Memorial) Lighthouse.  This is a privately owned lighthouse as well.  We took these pictures from the car park of a restaurant.  The restaurant hadn't opened for the day.

I believe that will be the last lighthouse we visit this trip.  We certainly have seen a lot, and if we had got passport stamps at all of them we would have completed our book.  I think we need another two to make our 60. We have some that are on pieces of paper that we could tape into the book, but we want our first one to be all stamped in the book, so we will wait.

Next we made our way to the town of St.Marys.  We crossed part of Route 66!!  We got our kicks on Route 66, in Arizona a few years ago.

It really was a quaint small town, like a lot we have seen on this trip.

and one of the home towns of Neil Armstrong, first man to walk on the moon.  He was born in Wapakoneta, about 10 miles east of here, but lived here for part of his early life.

These murals were lovely.

The main reason we came here was to see the Veterans Memorial Park and Belle of St. Marys Canal Boat.  You can read about those in the next blog.
