The reason we stopped at the small town of St. Marys was to see the "The Belle of St. Marys Canal Boat", in the Memorial Park. We didn't fully realize how beautiful this small park was going to be, and how much more there was to see here. Information on the different things in the park are given in this LINK, it is worth a read. There is information in the link for the Covered Bridge, the Grotto, the Clock Tower, the Veterans Walkway, and the Belle of St. Marys Canal Boat, all of which are pictured below.

Read about the roof materials that were donated by North Carolina as a result of an act of friendship between the two States, that resulted from a drought and a hurricane, in the link at the beginning.
The bridge was beautifully built.
The Grotto.
There's Bryan at the other end of the bridge.
The Clock Tower through the beams of the bridge.

The Veterans Walkway & flagpoles.
The Belle of St. Marys Canal Boat was what we came to see, but we actually spent more time in the rest of the park and at the lock. Today was the perfect weather day, as we again got reflections in our pictures.

| A HUGE spider!!!! |
This is part of the Miami and Erie Canal that ran from Cincinnati to Toledo, Ohio. There is not much of the original canal that has survived.
There was a tunnel under the bridge and we weren't sure where it led, but that there could be a lock through there. So we went through.
It wasn't that tall!!!
Looking back through the canal tunnel.
Yep, there was a lock.
We decided to walk a bit further along the bank.
and were glad we did when we saw this.
Interesting how there is no bark on this part of the tree.
There's me walking by the tree.
There was a pavilion where we sat in the shade for a while.
An old building on the other side of the canal. Bryan wondered if maybe it was a mill in the past.
A mural depicting St. Marys Canal history.
Back through the tunnel.
Looking back at the canal boat.I walked on to a bridge in the town and got this picture of the covered bridge.
What an awesome day we had again, we picked up dinner on the way home. Tomorrow we head to the campground on Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
